The Festival of Gouina Information

The Falls of Gouina are located about 25 km from Diamou and is 50 km southeast of Kayes, off of an adventurous dirt road. These falls are not only impressive due to their height (15 m), but especially by their width (500 m). They can best be compared to Niagra Falls in the United States. The area around these falls is equally beautiful with its baobabs and savanna woodland. Visiting the falls can make for a relaxing weekend bathing in the Senegal River. The banks are serene and tranquil, with nothing but the symphony of the falls and the bird songs to lull you to sleep. Once night falls, the music of the falls becomes softer and the whole area is enveloped in an atmosphere of Spring.
